Based in Milano (Italy), Chiara Degetto focuses her artistic research on painting. She started drawing studies of classical film frames from the 50s and 60s, to then turn her attention towards small precious objects; selected from vintage fashion and theatre costume archives. As a metaphor of relics and mysterious treasure chests, she paints these vintage purses with oil paint. Every antique object carries with itself a story, which is never fully revealed to us. Constantly influenced by literature, poetry, art and fashion history, her paintings are conceived as chosen icons, marked by the ideal perimeter of their frame, which always requires an entirely contemplative approach to life and vision.

 

Chiara Degetto was born in Crema (Italy) in 1999. She graduated at Brera Academy of Fine Arts in March 2025 with a master's degree in Visual Arts. In July 2024, she took part in her first collective exhibition: "Superficies. Quarta Parete", at Teatro Litta in Milano. The exhibition catalogue, "L'opera d'arte come superficie esposta negli spazi di un teatro", was published in September 2025. She has also contributed to the publication of the hybrid volume "Solventi. Superficies, Materiali di tangenza", a collective artist's book published  in January 2025.
